My kitchen so far...Any ideas of colours to use to decorate around?

Was thinking a nice bright red orchid as a feature...any ideas all welcome No.still don't have the appliances installed yet!

Comments (25)Normally , it is me saying red , orange or yellow for the front door , so its actually great to see just about everyone else suggesting that here ! Comments (90)I don't want to lecture , just pointing out some things I've noticed -- Often , 2 things that look the same on-line are quite different when you see them side by side -- different quality , different materials , etc . That's where buying from somewhere trustworthy is important . And sale prices are complicated . Some businesses have a high recommended price , but almost always have 20% or 50% off sales -- they get what they want $$$ wise , but you think you have gotten 1 over them . Other places have genuine sales to clear last seasons stock . Others only sell their unsellable stuff on sale -- in other words , theres a reason it is cheap . Still others need the $$$ , and you are getting a genuine bargain , but they mightn't be there in 6 months time . Not too bad for a rug , but not great for a car or TV . Basically , the best quality , sought after stuff from known suppliers is almost never 'on sale' . Comments (7)Thanks, it’s not so much mould as it is a bad smell. I have mould allergies but I haven’t been getting any respiratory symptoms. I agree though I don’t know what I’m doing so that’s why I come on here for advice. Now I regret the cabinets & will have to figure something out. The Kaboodle kitchens cost a lot more than the Ikea ones. Now I think the Ikea one was a waste of time. The $2000 did include the $500 hood range. I’ve found the cabinet maker rude and I’m disappointed now as I was so excited to get this done. It’s just hard for me to organise anything as I work a rotating night shift / day shift roster which is always changing along & I have insomnia. Going forward what recommendations would you have? Just pay the extra and buy a Kaboodle? I’m going to ask the cabinet installer if he can change the panels to matte (might be easy) he was a very rude made though and I’m not going to hire people off Gumtree any more. He demanded all the money up front when he hasn’t even put in the range hood which js not available in Ikea yet. He messed me around saying the cabinets would be delivered on two days when they weren’t without so much as letting me know, don’t wait around they won’t be there today. He ended up dropping the cabinets over the day before install. I will pay the extra and get it done properly next time to save the stress and so I won’t feel bad communicating my concerns to him....See More- 9 years ago

9 years agoWhat a beautiful kitchen! Colour really depends in the style you are looking for...I have a similar space to you and I went with this light blue/aqua tile....I love it and the first thing most people comment on is how calming it is....I wanted a casual calm beachy feel to my home and it worked perfectly for me! Another option I saw at a friend's recently was a soft ?dove grey glass subway tile (similar to the 2nd photo) in a herringbone pattern...it looked amazing with all white cabinetry.... neutral but if you love bright red option then accessories in red such as toaster kettle etc would really pop...and that way if you tire if red u can change accessories cheaper than a splashback/wall.
