Render, no render or half render

Hello
I am renovating a unit which is one of two in inner eastern Melbourne.
Given the unit is one of two I am unsure if to update the facade significantly as it might look out of place, however if left as is I feel it would be underwhelming as I plan to totally transform it inside.
Can you provide any advice on
- What is the name of the colour of the brick shown?
- Would a half render in say a shale grey look good? If not is another colour right?
- Is it best left as is? Or should I ignore the front unit and just go for it
I plan to replace the garage door and also acid wash the roof given it is full of moss

Comments (48)If you want to make the house hotter, then painting the roof charcoal will certainly achieve that. Repointing the brickwork is the most sensible from a maintenance perspective. Once you render and paint, then you have to keep painting (and it's likely to be out of fashion sooner or later). Try to keep passive cooling in mind (i.e. light colours & permeable landscaping) with any of your renovations, and I think it always pays to try and embrace and compliment the original architecture and be unique, rather than trying to look like the latest project home. Comments (0)Hi guys, Seeking some guidence as the painter will be painting the eaves in a day or two. We have narrowed the render down to Tranquil Retreat and eaves to Tranquil Retreat Half Strength. Has anyone used tranquil retreat half strength on eaves before? or should we be sticking to thr standard white eaves? I note that the bricks are Austral Chiffon and the alternative render colours are Dieskau or Silkwort. Comments (1)Hogs Bristle half is a good neutral. I’d probably go full strength though as colours look washed out when used on the exterior. I’d also match the gutters to the roof, they aren’t a feature....See Moreoklouise
