Need help renovating bathroom
Comments (8)Great room. The paintwork, bulkhead and black aluminum window look contemporary, so updating the colour scheme will completely renew this bathroom. I would remove the tiles on the wall of the vanity, including the bath area, and actually have a glazier I stall a mirror from the bench top right across the room, thus negating the need for tiling at all, and just lengthening the space and light. Then all you need to worry about are the bath surround tiles. Luckily there are loads of options, from DIY to designer and many in between. I saw a tile product on houzz called xlight that can be applied right over existing tiles, as long as they are level and secure. There is a stunning architectural range including concrete looking tiles and even a marble. Carrara is the most expensive fit out choice but number one of designers, xlite have a tile which would tile tour bath front in one piece as would your side and rear wall, in around two sheets! Contact them, then all you need to do is replace a vanity, or I would have a joiner come out to quote on hand laminating the top onsite. Or consider just replacing or building a base draw vanity beneath this while retaining the bench top, you could tile this also in the marble look for ultimate luxury, and go with a timber veneer looking product for the suspended drawers below. Floor tiling is the only thing to do then....See MoreNeed help with bathroom renovation
Comments (7)Bath v shower. If you go for the shower and no bath, make the space big enough to retrofit a bath in later. Bath is normally less than 900 which is preferred shower width however, If u plan on being there 10 years then can’t loose either way. Talk to your plumber about the most cost effective layout options, for example they may suggest rehanging door to swing other way or moving door to open up other layouts, I agree about corner cabinets, my sister just replaced hers with straight and there is more space not less and much more modern look....See MoreShould I let my husband project manage our bathroom renovations?
Comments (16)We have been renovating bathrooms for more than 20 years, of late and with (reality tv ) a bathroom renovation appear to take a mere few days. . It has now become unreal expectation, for a quick cheap bathroom renovations ( "I renovated my bathroom for $ 5,000" ) Bathroom renovation businesses and builders require a 25% to 30% for overheads plus profit. And most work, if not all is sub contracted out, demolition, plumbing, electrical, rendering ,villaboard, waterproofing, tiling. (one very large renovation business dictates rates to trades, e.g render a bathroom for $ 600 including materials.) Rather than to try and compete with the cheap, poor quality businesses,we have changing our business to advising/supporting/teaching home owners ( as your husband ) to renovate their own bathrooms, with our home inspections. The key to a Bathroom Renovation...is Meticulous Planning......See MoreCheck out this all-in-one bathroom/ laundry
Comments (27)@HU-319610855 I’m not saying this to be even the slightest bit contradictory, so please don’t take it that way. We had seperate everything. Doors, walls and divisions everywhere. We pulled it all out and went combo. We‘ve never had an issue with conflicting use, and we love the feeling of extra space and openness it created. I’m sure it all depends on your household. :-)...See MoreKhanh Nguyen
