Not sure what colour cushions will suit my brown leather lounge
Comments (92)Hi Blufitch, Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. The four coffee tables are lovely, but I would probably opt for one of the two top ones. That being said, check the measurements first as these round tables might be significantly larger than your existing Ikea table. Re the potted plant, a taller one would be better, or you can put this one on a plant stand or even on a ceramic stool. But if you feel a mirror would be too much due to your mirrored splashback, leave the plant as it is and hang a framed print above the plant. It doesn't need to be big, but it's important that it s not too small so it doesn't look too "lost" on the wall. It's hard for me to judge the size from here, but a 70x40 frame might be ok. You could have only the yellow canvas above the couch, but you would have to bring in a few more brightly-coloured cushions or throw onto the couch, to compensate for the empty wall. Alternatively, you could also hang a large mirror above the couch. If you decide to do this, I think it would be best to move the canvas back to where it was, and hang the mirror in front of the window, so it reflects the natural light around and gives more depth to the room. The large Ikea Stave mirror (in white stained oak) is very reasonably priced and would work great. Just double check it fits first (it's 70x160)! Tell us how yo go! Comments (14)If you have a bit of storage space then consider buying a couple of inexpensive easy wipe stackable chairs (eg ikea) for visiting kids to use. Parents and you can then relax and enjoy the meal without worrying about your upholstery. Alternatively, tie-on seat cushions will give some protection plus a height boost for little ones....See MoreHi everyone Choc Brown lounge again.
Comments (68)Thank you everyone, lots of shopping, many shops seen. I have pulled this look together. I am not sure about the heavy textured throw. Just walked in with it, thinking a white pot with a plant in the corner by the window. I wanted to find the beige colour in the blue cushion, a much darker colour than the plain one l found to the left of it. Take care everyone. Sue...See MoreDesign dilemma.
Comments (14)Solid conceptually, and a great effort. but as Retro said the building expense will be more in the extent of perimeter, detailing and gable form nature of it rather than the size. From a functional aspect I'd be getting the bathrooms breathing a bit more, and also consider flipping the whole main living so you're not walking past a laundry from the main entry, and you present/enter into the main living which would be much more open. Possibly you consider changing the entry point though if you prefer closer relationship off the kitchen/laundry with the garage....This is where you need to balance function vs experience....... Also I'll add that no plan is EVER "perfect", rather it is either better balanced and aligned one way or the other in respect to your particular needs. Without understanding context also it's hard to comment as when you have a rural context the opportunity to respond to potential panoramic views & orientation changes the way we plan the building. Also response to sustainable design, and say if north is up the page having bedrooms on the west unprotected is an issue and also the west facing window to the master....... What you may be better to do, rather than go straight to a builder, is to take these to a Designer to help you refine your ideas and finalise the concept. It's a great start, but if you go straight to a builder you're missing a critical part of the process and bypassing vital design expertise (which will include energy efficiency, engineering/structural/costing understanding that will help you realise the full potential of your project. Definitely on the right path, though Best of luck Cheers PD :)...See MoreWild Bear & Co Hervey Bay
