Comments (54)I agree about the idea of putting roller blinds on your door , matching the colours of the others must mention about Annie Sloan paint : it is a chalk paint and you can apply it on any wood surface with at having to use primer, what " seals" the pain is the Annie Sloan wax you apply afterwards. You can Buy Annie Sloan on line , i use Annie Sloan a lot.it is expensive if you want the legs painted black to be smooth, just paint and wax , but one coat of Annie Sloan does not give a good coverage. It you want it " distressed" slightly, then just sand a few it on the edges afterwards, before the waxing With a slight " distressed" leg look, but you would need to give the top of the table a light sanding to " rough it up" on the edges if you want a good solid, coverage, Annie Sloan is not the right choice have a look on eBay, I have just bought some cages light to fit near my table outside ( I was just playing around with them yesterday before the electrician comes toda), they were only like $46 each...See MoreNeed help deciding on a balustrade style
Comments (12)also love the existing railing and have seen steel mesh panels attached to the inside of a open steel railing and wonder if something similar would look good and satisfy safety regulations ...the mesh panel was flat dark grey sheet steel with holes punched in it and from a distance (with the white fence in front) looks like dark shadow and up close like very thick solid fly screen...an extra horizontal top rail would add more height if necessary and the result would create more shelter and privacy from the street.... otherwise a new steel fence with square steel pickets and top and bottom rails and make sure the old railing is offered for re-use or recycled...See MoreWhat external paint colour for brick ranch style (modern farmhouse) ?
Comments (13)Paint is relatively cheap , it would tie the 2 'halves' together if done at least half way right -- that is part of my thinking on keeping the filligrees too -- they add interest and even a hint of class and a bygone era , but they are consistent across the buildings . But to do weatherboards over the brick , you either need to do 'fake' door and window surrounds , and then your doors and windows set back in ; or remove the doors and windows , do the weatherboarding and surrounds , and reinstall the joinery 'further out' . I guess you could try glueing the boards on , but they'll still be 50-60mm 'deeper' , but if you do say 50x50mm battens then weatherboard , you are adding at least 100mm to the window and door depths . A lot of $$$$ to not achive a heap IMO ....See More- 8 years ago
