Lighting query pendant

Hi- we have a pendant hanging above our stairs - however we cannot agree on what way the pendant should be. Currently the base unit aligns with stairs however this means that you have to be in the hall (bedrooms at the end of hall) to view the entire pendant face on ( as per picture). The other alternative is for the base to run towards the window (tighter fit)which would mean you would look at the pendants face on as you are at the top of the stairs/ childrens area (photo 2).

Any suggestions for a preferred way to hang? Any suggestions appreciated!

Where do you spend the most time when you are looking at the pendant?

That will give you a better idea of the way it should be hung.

I would prefer the alternative perspective. BUT will your children swing on them down the stairs - very tempting. Every child who enters the house will need to be deterred. It would not have lasted 2 minutes in my place.

It might be worth while to consider the rest of the space also. Your breakfast bar/kitchen is located quiet closely to your dining table so depending on your kitchen space (apologies, I can't see too much of your kitchen from the photo) you might want to think about the overall style you want to achieve for you entire open plan space, and select pendants that would work for both your kitchen and dining. This is a project I worked on recently that shows how two different types of pendants can work harmoniously in the one space that is most similar to your kitchen and dining set up. how big is your table? The light specs say that the 10 light is 96cm and the 6 light is 84cm... Can your table accommodate 2x 84cm with adequate spacing? I also guess that you will place a side/coffee table next to the lounge so the position of the light will depend on the size of the space between the wall and the lounge Centre the light over the side table, the height would be judged from when sitting in the lounge the bottom of the light would be about eye level
