What wall art should I put in this room?
Hello, would love some opinions on what time of wall art/colour etc to go in this room?

Art is such a personal choice, if you find a piece that you love then that is the one, you can let your personality shine through your art, a statement piece or a collection of framed artwork above your gorgeous couch would look fabulous .
7 years agoMy first though is to pick up the colour of your rug. As Julie said, art design is personal choice, but I think shades of blue would work.

Have you come across any "woven" art in your professional travels? I have a friend who actually weaves tapestries on a loom as they did centuries ago thread by thread. They are exquisite and each a unique artwork. She works professionally on commission Very time consuming, meticulous and expensive and she also does it simply for relaxation and sells them. Wonder would there be anything along this line available commercially today? Such a "woven piece" would make an enormous impact in any room, so beautiful and unique in a bedroom especially if a design woven to order...but Yikes $$$$$. Afterthought...a painted MURAL designed to order might be a touch of luxury if you engaged somebody to do it and they presented you with a series of pictures for you to choose from.....that would not fall down! I did one for a friend's guest donga in Charleville QLD...she wanted a fantasy and had a lot of input herself, it was a collaborative effort and she got exactly what she wanted. Comments (8)I would suggest hanging a large moroccan woven fabric or mat, just use a length of dowel along the top edge, and hang it up. It would add great texture and also a casual feel to the room. Dress up the couch with a bunch of patterned cushions and a bolster moroccan style. Everything in your place is grey , beige , off-grey , off-beige , off-blue , and charcoal . So to add some excitement you get some art in grey , beige , off-grey , off-beige , off-blue and charcoal ! Three months ago I bought an original abstract picture about 1.2metres square -- a yacht under sail in heavy seas . Except it was all in brightish colours , the texture is literally knifed on . But straight away , your eyes are drawn to it , and you know exactly what it is . We know sails aren't really orange and yellow and apricot and butter -- but it portrays the fury ! The sails are actually heavy paper , screwed up , flattened , painted and glued to the canvas -- it is 3 dimensional ! I'm actually not a sailing person , but at $800 I grabbed it , and glad I did . It may not be your choice , but imagine just from my description , what something like that would add to your place . A large flower or fruitbowl if you want to be safe , a 'quality' landscape , or something that is a talking point if you are as mad as me . . . . . . . . . . and you can change it in 6 months or 6 years ....See More
PRO7 years agoSorry, most of the above look a bit cold. How about making the scene a bit warmer and welcoming.
Also, to have a fabric design stretched over a frame works well - Marimekko, Designers Guild. The image below is a fabric from Clarke & Clarke
There is a great shop at Harvey Bay, NSW that sells Indigenous art on frames, and three in a row of small frames looks fantastic.

PRO7 years agolast modified: 7 years agoYou've got a great neutral base there Alisha, and as others have said, you probably need to add texture and warmth through artwork and accessories... given all hard floor surface I'd recommend a canvas over a framed print.
