Well here we are yet again! I've not changed my opinion. The toilet-loo-privy- whatever one wants to call it needs a room of its own. Makes no sense to me having a "privacy wall" behind which to hide the pedestall if it is placed in a shower or full bathroom...the locked bathroom door is all that's needed. Seems to me that the concept of a separate toilet room or "Powder Room" (Why that title is anyone's guess)...was a sensible and accepted concept of homes in the 50's. It wasn't in need of any "polite" title, it was simply referred to as "The Toilet"..meaning basically -".where to freshen up". My idea of a perfectly sensible toilet is a separate little room housing the pedestal (toilet bowl) and a little basin with running water. Optional- a paper hand towel dispenser or one of those blowers...or a small towel rack and/or a nook for toilet paper...mabye to accomodate wet wipes in the absence of a basin or even where there's a basin....a nice comfy little Toilet Room..

I do bathrooms every day of the week and I can tell you now that, If you really want a bath in that space and shower just do a shower over bath I noticed your shower was 800mm wide this is to small for a shower 900mm minimum. Forget the bifold doors put in a cavity slider or if this is not possible do a face of wall sliding door on the out side of the bathroom. If you really really want separate bath & shower move the toilet into the laundry. Get an 1800mm deep soaker bath and run it along the 2000mm wall run your shower along the 2100mm wall opposite the vanity. I take it your on a timber floor not a slab as moving a toilet on a slab can get costly.

MB Design & Drafting, I have to contradict your comment about having only 1 floor waste, we have a large double shower with only 1 floor waste, ours is in the centre of our double shower, our tiles are black and by the time we get out of the shower the water on our shower floor is gone, I always clean the tiles and glass before leaving the shower, I leave the fan on while we dry and by the time we are dried our shower floor is almost dry, we have no trouble at all with only 1 floor waste.. Barbara, we have the same problem, which is not a problem at all, my husband likes his shower much hotter than me but we have our showers turned on to suit each other, we have a small seat at each end to sit on while we wash our hair and feet and each others backs.

Hi there, okay what you need to do is the cut the floor out to the dimensions of the shower base you require and frame out a new floor allowing enough to add screed to create fall the the drain and the tile plus glue and to allow for the thickness of the timber screen so best work this out from the expected finished height of the tiled floor. I would expect to drop the floor around 100mm to the floor joist then add Sycon sheeting the joist and edges. Add some gal angle to the internal and external corners of the shower base. At this stage you can lay villaboard sheeting to the rest of the room and now screed the shower base with fall 6mm over a 1 metre is AS for Victoria but we allow 20mm with a shower base so that's 20mm from the finished tiled floor to the grate it is a bit but we find it works well. Now that the screed has been laid you can waterproofing according to AS3740 once this is done you just need to tile.
