Comments (4)@Kate The price was approx $4500. (2008) This was for the island bench, 3500mm. plus the bench with cook top and appliance cupboard, plus the small splash back about 200mm high on wall against the island. The installers removed the upstand and cut the laminate at the widest point. They then installed a solid mdf board, same thickness as the laminate bench top, to the full length of the bench. Then installed the polymer engineered stone across the entire bench. then mitred a 30mm piece for the edge. Took a day for the full installation. Made a huge difference. When we went to sell the home in late 2018, the real estate agent thought it was real caesarstone....See MoreEngineered Stone Companies
Comments (5)Stone Ambassador here in Australia carry good stock and provide good customer support, I am not aware of any problems with their products, supply or service. Stone Ambassador's customer support can also provide you with information about how to look after Reconstituted Stone tops so you get the most out of your investment. All brands of Reconstituted Stone require a certain level of care because they are made using a small amount of polymer resin. Care needs to be taken when using strong Acids or very high temperatures. If you are unsure that Reconstituted Stone is right for you (as opposed to say natural Granite) then I suggest you contact Stone Ambassador and any other Reconstituted Stone brand you may also be considering and ask them to send you out samples; where you can then put these to your own tests. If you do purchase a Reconstituted Stone material, also be sure to register your benchtop purchase with that particular Reconstituted Stone manufacturer (not the fabricator) straight away, be it Stone Ambassador, Caesarstone, Quantum Quartz, Silestone or others so that your top's details and warranty are registered. Hope this helps, Malcolm...See MoreStandard to designer range of stone... how much ?
Comments (11)Builders markups on upgrades can be large. Unfortunately it doesn’t matter a lot what we tell you if you’re locked into a building contract with your builder. You can’t get alternative quotes and you can’t supply your own. So it’s difficult. But for your own sanity check have a look at the benchtop pricing on diyaustralia.com. They have pricing for the different ranges of major benchtop suppliers on their site....See MoreFori
