Where is the home located...i.e. climate wise?

Thanks WOW. We feel incredibly fortunate to live here. We’re in Bass Lake, CA where temperatures in the winter get into the teens and summers can reach over 100, mid-90’s for extended periods not uncommon. It snows on average 5 times a few inches to a foot and sticks around for a few days to a week.

I would not mix the interior window color in a room (or house). I personally love a dark window, even against white trim. The dark frames will bring dimension to the space and soften the transition from interior to exterior views.

I really do like the way that looks but I really don’t think I want black interior windows throughout the house, thus the dilemma. The opinion helps, though. I was looking at Milgard Trinsic for their thin frames but they don’t offer a dark interior either. Can you recommend a line you like with the dark interior?

The fact that that glass is triangular (i.e. vs. a short leg trapezoid) at the bottom is going to be more challenging for many of your normal materials. There is a ton of protection from the elements so you could just install some Insulated Glass Units if you had a great glazier to work with. That, or you could have someone make you some customer frames for the glass to go in. Getting into the teens is usually out of the happy zone for thermally broken aluminum, but that could still work if the relative humidity is manager properly.

The Milgard rep said they could make that shape in a custom window, but the top ones would have to be modified slightly. As far as glaziers go, great or otherwise, I wouldn’t know where to begin. We live in a small town and getting people from the nearest city to come here to work is difficult and generally more expensive.

I think if the windows are in a different room it would be OK. But not in the same room on the same wall.

Unfortunately I'm not as familiar with other window manufacturer's in the Milgard price range. My guess is maybe Jeld Wen may be the same price range?? What you could do is take your Milgard quote with sizing and do some google searches for local window suppliers. Then, they wouldn't have to measure but could build a quote off your existing window package. This could save everyone time and money. Then, when a price sounds right, invest in them coming out to measure, etc. Hope this helps!
