I need Ideas for Fireplace/TV wall

We were very limited with customizing this wall on this new home build. We knew after we closed we would do something with this wall with the TV cut out and fireplace. My initial idea was to close up the cut out add a mantle and possibly tile, rock or paint wall dark color. I also have space on either side of that that is I think about 3 to 4 feet wide. Where I can add tables and arts or add some shelving whatever I want. Give me your thoughts pleased.

The most important thing to think about at this stage is where you want the visual focus of the room. If there is nothing else as the focal point, and you do not plan to install a TV, then making this stand out as a prominent feature (with mantel and paint or wallpaper for texture or adding a great piece of wall art) is great. Just keep in mind that electrical code may require that the outlet maintain a cover plate for safety. Please make sure whoever does this work for you knows the local codes and keeps your home safe; you can always "hide" the plate with accessories, which we have done on many jobs.

Are you trying to hide the back/side of the TV from being seen through the glass on the other side? Do you require storage space (hidden behind doors/draws, or not)? Do you have any appliances that need to sit with your tv eg. Hard drive recorder, dvd player etc, game playing machine?

Plenty of scope for hanging things on the wall - paintings, rugs, big copper trays, a boar's head or two (just joking). I think you need a much bigger entertainment unit to reflect the scale of the room, also good sized coffee tables and end tables, and perhaps a floor lamp in the corner where that speaker is.

how far is it to the corner to the left of the heater..can you hang a TV on that wall? but i don't think this type of flue was intended to be enclosed but check directly with the manufacturer for specific installation instruction for this heater to avoid any fire risk..the alternative could be to move the fire to a more convenient space or invest in a new heater and maybe if you post house plans with dimensions we can suggest an alternatiove location

It is always a bit difficult when you essentially have three key features (view, fire, TV) that should all have the living area seating orientated towards them. With your current floor plan, I think the logical place for the fire is in the corner to the right of the TV. You may have to ensure that the wall projects far enough that the fire is not in front of the window. This wasn’t the question, but of the two fires that you showed, I preferred the first, more contemporary looking one.

I would close it up and add a large, colorful piece of art. Then, once your furniture has been placed, if you feel the area needs more "ooomph", paint it out a color that works with your other decor.

The rest of the room looks very plain so this is a great opportunity to add some personality. Something gold and blue I feel like just belongs there. Otherwise close it up and add molding or wainscoting to the walls
