Hi Elle, I suggest putting the washer and dryer where the vanity currently is and either having them under a bench so you have some flat space and perhaps a cupboard over or putting the dryer above the washer and using the adjacent space for a laundry tub and a hanging rail for drying things above. This would then allow you to have a wall hung vanity (usually not as deep as the laundry items so giving you more space) opposite the toilet with a big mirror over or a mirror wall cabinet semi-recessed into the wall if possible. The mirror will pick up the light from the window and make the room feel much bigger as will the floor space under the vanity. No changes to plumbing needed! Then just add a paint colour perhaps a shade of white or duck egg blue and you have a lovely bathroom/laundry. Best of luck with your renovations. Sue

Here is a layout with hall door in current location. You would need to upgrade or remove the window in shower. Cheaper option may be to move the hall door a little away from cupboard to get 900 shower in behind linen and put toilet at back. Not quite as pretty as the Home Mood plan but more floor space. We intend to use the current study as a fifth / guest bedroom and study (hence wanting an updated bathroom downstairs too). We do have guests stay quite often (older step kids etc.) Some good ideas to think about, appreciate the feedback

There's nothing worse than entering straight into the side of a vanity. It immediately makes a space feel cluttered/squeezed. A small scaled vanity also makes a room look small (unless it's traditional and you can possibly get away with it). Even if you don't need double basins the extra benchtop is never a negative. Whichever way you do a full depth vanity plus a shower on opposite sides will only give you 600mm between which is too tight. a semi recessed is really your only option unless you have a shorter/single vanity with the shower next to it so you are not squeezed when at the basin. The Japanese soaker bath/shower idea is nice, however you do have to step over the hob which personally not a fan of It also works the best at the end of a room like in the image above. The other option, if you don't want to move the door, assuming window sill is above bench height & are willing to give up the bath, which would feel less cluttered is this: The shower could be comfortably 1500mm In bathrooms, every 100mm and the balance/clearances to/bewteen fittings makes a big difference
