Stools like these would add texture and warmth. I got them a few years ago from Harvey Norman. Agree with the other suggestions. Your kitchen is quite shiny and so are your floors so adding in items will reduce some of that hard surface element

I think your diving set is fine and perfectly neutral. My only thought is its a bit small for the space. But I'd hang onto it until you've made the other minor adjustments

I quite like the table but it’s warm tones are fighting with the cool tones of the kitchen. You need to consider the whole space inc the living area. Some more pics would help. Do you have a look or style you’re after? The kitchen makes it quite a hard room to furnish cohesively and has me a bit stumped. I’m reluctant to suggest adding more gloss/shiny/hard finishes but the dining has to have some relationship to the kitchen so I would have a marble stone type table. Good idea from above to add some black into the kitchen. Do you have rugs or artwork to go in? They would add much needed texture and colour.

I love your table and chairs and beautiful kitchen, agree just add a few timber and black decor items to your bench tops, you could add a timber and black or all black stools, a beautiful bowl for your table.. gorgeous.

Following on from bigreader’s suggestions, a polished concrete dining table with your chairs could look great if you decided to change your table.

Nothing like a challenging dilemma. The space does need something to offset all that gloss. If you have any photoshop skills I’d be interested in seeing how a pale oak table would look. It looks like the colour would work better with the cool tones and bring some warmth to the room. It would also provide a direction for the rest of the room.

PS if the pale pale table worked it would make the stool choice easier.

I have been really trying hard to make the existing dining table to  work.. But I feel it simply doesnt really suit the space..

All though i like grey,I am not really into anything too glossy or shiny..So decorating this space is really a challenge for me as kitchen is the giant thing in the open living area.

I am also considering repainting the kitchen cabinets to possibly a matt color if nothing works out..

Only you can decide if it’s worth the investment to change the doors and panels in the kitchen. But you need to make that decision before you buy new furniture and accessories.

I have no plans to change it.. Just paint the existing doors myself so it doesnt cost me too much.

I love your table and think it will work, it's the chairs that for me need changing, perhaps Wishbone black like in bigreaders second photo. Change the Pendant lighting to modern black with a touch of timber, stools could be to match with these. A large Jute style rug under the dining table would also soften the hard surfaces if there's enough space. A larger view of your lovely room would be helpful

Very very basic idea, I have changed the colour of the Island panels facing the Dining to a flat colour that could be matched to the benchtop which will help reduce some of the reflective surfaces

You have a timber lined ceiling above the kitchen island, and black pendants already, or that is what it looks like. As others have said, add more timber and black accessories and a jute rug for texture. The floor is very shiny so that needs to be reduced, hence the jute rug suggestion. Is the plastic cage thing for a dog, it seems to bring the whole space down, is there some way to have that removed with an alternative solution.

Painting the cupboards would be the last solution, they will need very careful rubbing back and correct application of paint.

And the island has doors, not just panels, so a careful job in painting would have to be done, it will have to be inside and outside of each door.

You could also add black handles to doors, this will help take away the visual shiny ness of each door.

yes they are doors as they have child locks on them other wise I would have suggested using some timber paneling. The plastic things are a child's play pen etc

As most of you suggested, I think I might keep the dining table and add more wood accents to the kitchen..

I am also considering to change the dining chairs. As someone said, i also think its too much black and the lean chairs is making the dining area smaller for the space.

Love your kitchen, I think you could go with a longer dining table, with three chairs instead of two, maybe a bit narrower than the table you have got. Also I would recommend getting a professional to paint the doors, but I don’t think you need to. I agree with Dreamers advice. Your kitchen is lovely, once you have decided on bar stools and table it will look great
