This unusually shaped kitchen in Blackheath has been completely refurbished. Clever design has been used to maximise functionality in the space available by including a waterfall island with a reduced side to mirror the shape of the room, tall units that reach right up to the ceiling and reduced depth cupboards on one of the walls. The beautifully sleek German black cabinets have been complimented with striking Dekton Trillium stone from Cosentino.

Beaded in-frame flat-slab fronts celebrate the warmth and character of natural oak, while the in-frame shaker cabinets, finished in Batch Loaf, introduces a clean and contemporary restraint. Various fittings & fixtures in brushed satin brass add a subtle sense of refinement throughout, while the 20mm Dekton Haze folds from the worktop up to a backsplash, and folds back out into a shelf return, Its delicate veining introduces gentle movement and visual interest across the composition. A beaded plinth aligned with the existing room skirting visually anchors the cabinetry within the architecture, while a subtle shadow-gap cornice accentuates the scale and presence of the tall units. Internally, the same level of craftsmanship continues through dovetail-constructed larder drawers, solid wood cutlery trays, and thoughtfully tailored storage solutions. Arranged in a streamlined one-wall and island configuration, the kitchen offers a generous sense of openness while maintaining an intuitive workflow and concealed practicality. Integrated appliances, including the Miele refrigeration and Fisher & Paykel DishDrawer units, blend seamlessly into the cabinetry. Tall pocket doors reveal and conceal both the dedicated breakfast station and the bank of eye-level Miele ovens, allowing everyday appliances to disappear from view when not in use and preserving the room’s calm visual language. At the heart of the space, the Bora X Pure hob sits proudly atop the freestanding island, with its integrated downdraft extraction eliminating the need for an overhead canopy and maintaining uninterrupted sightlines throughout the room. Behind it, the Fusion Round Quooker tap is perfectly coordinated with the accompanying brass hardware, reinforcing the scheme’s cohesive detailing. The design is guided by a holistic approach, with elements of the whole room deeply considered. A striking bespoke arched display unit introduces softness and geometric balance to the otherwise rectilinear composition, while the adjoining bench seating with beaded in-frame detailing creates an inviting dining setting. Hidden discreetly beyond the main kitchen, a combined pantry, utility and boot room provides an abundance of additional storage and houses essential secondary appliances, ensuring the principal space remains uncluttered and serene. The finished kitchen feels quietly luxurious and deeply considered, layering traditional craftsmanship, natural materiality and discreet modern performance into one seamless environment. Prime Oak and Matte Black cabinetry work together to create a warm and modern feel. Milky white Palm Shade stone was chosen for the benchtop and splashback, which perfectly “disappear” in the space to provide both balance and contrast. The island’s support legs and frame which are made of Tasmania Oak timber, stained to match the floor, together with the black V-groove detail island back panel, adding a sense of cohesion and sophistication.

This family home belongs to a wonderful family with 2 children and a dog. The original kitchen was very angular and separate from the dining and living spaces while open to an area that was used as a kids play space. By taking away the angles and opening up the kitchen to the dining area we created an open-plan kitchen dining living area with easy access to the exterior. We used Arctic White Gloss Melamine for the under bench and tall cupboards and Supreme Oak Puregrain Melamine for the overhead cupboards. The Oak adds warmth and appeal The White Ice Engineered Stone was used on the Benchtop as well as Splashback. It is crisp without being pure white and adds subtle interest. The layout allows for a zone for coffee making, cooking and preparation as well as cleaning. This was of great importance to the clients, as when family are visiting they all cook together.

The cabinetry features flat-faced Melteca Warm White – Satin doors, panels, and drawers—creating a cohesive and clean finish throughout. Integrated handle slots on lower cabinetry and push-to-open pantry doors elevate the minimalist feel while keeping functionality at the forefront. The floating shelves and toekicks also match in Melteca Warm White – Satin, allowing them to visually recede and support the calming, cohesive palette. The kitchen benchtop and splashback are finished in Trendstone Cala Eleganza, a soft and sophisticated surface with subtle veining that adds texture and interest without overwhelming the space. The corner waterfall ends finish the peninsula beautifully, giving it sculptural presence.
