2020 Kitchen Renovation
Aherne Court, Bull Creek
Our clients have owned their home in Bull Creek a number of years and needed a kitchen redesign to accommodate their busy professional lifestyle as two doctors, working very long, alternating shifts, with school aged children.
Their brief was to have two of everything so that their family kitchen could operate on two separate shifts, mirroring their work schedules. Their request was:
• two separate preparation zones
• two sinks
• two dishwashers
• at least double the storage space
• two custom designed matching granite dining tables
• a single 4.4 metre panel of stainless-steel splashback
• industrial extraction and additional lighting
With their love for cooking, it meant that there was always a space available and clean to prepare food no matter what time either of them arrived home.
We set about redesigning the kitchen to allow for multiple preparation zones and removed the wall that closed off the kitchen to the dining room. This opened the area up so people could easily access the dining room from this kitchen in a social setting. Also creating space for a larger dining table to accommodate family gatherings. The pantry wall was also removed to allow more storage space and an aesthetically pleasing flow of 5.3 metres of uninterrupted neutral gloss cabinetry.
The 40mm black granite topped kitchen bench is a standout feature with two matching custom designed dining tables close by. The hero of this kitchen is definitely the splashback – a single 4.4 metre sheet of stainless steel spanning the length of the kitchen! An eye-catching feature!
We achieved double the storage space by adding overhead cabinetry, clever storage options as well as cabinetry above the fridge. The pantry space also allowed for double the original storage due to clever design, wall removal and shelving placement. Both dishwashers are tucked away, as is a wealth of smart storage options and the kitchen bin!
We used black composite granite sinks, complementing matt black handles and a chrome vegetable spray for the main sink to tie in with the stainless steel. We also removed the dated slate flooring and replaced it with a larger format limestone floor tiles and in a complementary colour to the cabinetry which completely brightened the home.
The colour palette for this kitchen consisted of black granite, stainless steel and limestone. Colours to complement the rest of their home.
The result is absolutely amazing!!! Our client’s reaction on the day of completion was that she could not believe it was her kitchen and her house!!
