This is the first hemp home to be completed in the ACT and is a testament to the convictions of the owners to build the most energy efficient and healthy home they could for their family.

We were all very excited about pioneering hemp as a construction material in Canberra, and both the owner and I worked on the hemp building team for five weeks. It was a great experience and confirmed my enthusiasm for the product.

It is a natural, breathable home that promotes healthy air quality and passively traps and controls heat in winter whilst restricting and purging it in summer. The hemp masonry utilises a renewable resource that actively locks in carbon during construction and over the lifecycle of the home.

This house has garnered strong interest from homeowners, industry and media organisations alike with regular tours conducted to show its many features. The clients have become strong advocates of hemp since completing their home and have been regularly featured on news channels. Most importantly their home provides them with a healthy and energy efficient home in which to raise their family.
