Crown Road Ivanhoe

Our clients purchased the property in January 2019.
Originally built as one of Australia’s pioneering examples of multi-generational homes between 1962-1964, it was the brainchild of Melbourne architects Guilford Bell and Neil Clerehan during their short-lived 18-month partnership.
The house presents as an understated and unassuming combination of two dwellings on a north/south block adjacent to the Darebin Creek landscape. Interestingly, Robin Boyd’s Featherston House, another multi-generational home, is just a few streets away.
It was initially conceived for a multi-generational family: grandparents occupied the single-storey dwelling closer to the street, while the daughter, son-in-law, and their two children resided in a two-storey dwelling further down the slope.
