Hyde Park
The timeless Bluestone villa underwent demolition of the existing kitchen, conservatory and verandah structure making way for a contemporary functional entry / kitchen / pantry and dining addition accessing the feature outdoor covered terrace to the rear of the property and greatly enhancing the engagement with the rear yard and pool area. The outdoor terrace is a key feature defined by its with exposed steel beams, glass balustrade and spotted gum timber floor deck.
The new stand alone garage continues the beautiful solid Kanmantoo Bluestone work with brick bands and blends beautifully with the original home and salvaging and recycling materials such as brick paving border and the western red cedar window and access door. Other inclusions to the building works such as wet-laid granite paving and driveway and fencing were undertaken with the same attention to detail.
A key feature is the huge structural steel colonnades to the western side elevation of the project to create an engaging space for what may otherwise have been a forgotten area of the build. The detail and finish of these elements is very precise with mitre-joined site welds and architectural wiring detail to create a space that will develop with the establishment of a creeper over time.
