Unley
This project recently bestowed the 2016 HIA-CSR South Australian Housing and Kitchen & Bathroom 2016 Awards - Commendation for Renovation / Addition Project.
The original house was in a very poor state, but had good basic structure and underwent some major demolition of lean-to and outbuildings.
Minor reconfiguration to the original footprint and an extension combined to the create a truly modern day open plan home complete with open kitchen, butler’s pantry and laundry, dining & living.
There is also a refined powder room, modern family bathroom and a wonderful outdoor entertaining area complete with integrated BBQ and open servery into the kitchen area.
A key element of this project was the restoration of the front façade of this home back to its former glory with a modern complimentary colour palette. The original sandstone was sandblasted and re-pointed, brickwork restored, new bull-nose verandah and carport built and a large masonry fence erected to provide privacy.
All contractors used on this project are regular and preferred contractors of Urban Habitats and considered a valuable extension of our team.
The well-resourced selection of material finishes chosen to integrate the old with the new ensures a cohesive and modern look is achieved throughout the home. Even the existing timber floors to the entry/hallway were given some attention to further enhance the warmth and richness to the home and new black butt timber flooring to the rear extension maintains the high if not exceptional level of finishes.
The existing rooms to the front of the home were rejuvenated to maintain traditional charm and given a contemporary calm feel.
