A cubby-hole system to sort the post into - so is the rest of the wall just a big hollow space? Isn’t that a pretty poor use of whatever space there might be in a hall? Also, who sorts their mail into slots? You’d have to get a lot of post to make this worth while I reckon

agree with @S Austin & @Ruth BT

My first thought on the mail slots in wall was what a waste of space & ’only in the US…’ - space is a premium in an average London victorian terrace.

Andnin one of the largest cities in the world I would 100% leave keys hanging out of sight from door/ not accessible from letterbox but still in hall. Thiefs can take the damned keys if they wish and leave my family alone.

i’m much more worried about a fire breaking out and my family & children being unable to unlock the front door to get out. The house next door to us (in a terrace) went up in flames 5 yrs ago & we were v lucky as were neighbours that no one was hurt. And theres an increasing risk of wildfires the past few summers with a major one on the green flats next to us 4 yrs ago… and thats not even factoring in the dodgy electrics in 180yr old houses…

Over the years I have tried so hard to introduce/instigate some organisation in the hallway for shoes, coats and bags in the form of baskets, hooks and racks! As previously stated, as the instigator I have adhered to this. Anyone else uses the floor, more floor and the bannister. Keys are another matter and never replaced in the drawer at the bottom of the stairs. When they run out I find them in rooms/bags of under the pot outside the front door 🤣🤣🤣🤣. The joys of family life 😊
