There’ll be no more running over bikes or toys left lying about in the driveway when it glows in the dark! Starpath is a spray-applied elastomeric coating for concrete, tarmac, timber and other materials that absorbs and stores energy from ambient light (UV rays) during the day, then releases this energy at night, making the particles glow. “This product adjusts to the natural light, so if it is pitch black outside the luminous natural earth enhances, and if the sky is lighter, it won’t release as much luminosity – it adjusts accordingly, almost like it has a mind of its own,” says Pro-Teq Surfacing owner Hamish Scott.
As well as driveways and decks, Starpath is being trialled in parks and other public areas to reduce the need for artificial lighting.
