I love original well made pieces adding interest into a room. Being from a generation that grew up with it, I have inherited a dining suite and Frenched it up to suit my style. But I am not a fan of any of the above photos, to be honest I'm really sick of it, it's everywhere, overused and boring!

I'm not a great fan of MCM, especially those plastic chairs with wire framed supports. I really hate the current trend of wire framed pieces. What I do like though are well crafted timber framed arm chairs which can be used as accent chairs with almost any style of furnishings in the living room. I'm still on the hunt for them, but have to rule out those with skinny legs as my husband thinks those have very slim chance of supporting his weight!

I favour the MCM with beautifully crafted timber chairs and tables that are timeless and fit in with almost any other style. The plastic and metal reproductions don't do anything for me. Look cheap and honestly, I wouldn't trust them to carry my weight
