Bespoke fitted furniture for a study in London

Traditional Home Office, London

Acorn Carpentry and Joinery produced the bespoke fitted furniture for this attractive study in a new build home in Wimbledon in southwest London. The design of the room allows it to be a multipurpose and flexible space for changing future needs. Our specialist expertise in bespoke furniture design and build for developers and interior designers was vital for this project. As you can see the joinery looks like a seamless part of the room. The brief to us at Acorn was to handcraft and install the open display shelving sited above and on either side of an integrated desk. In addition to the made to measure shelving, we also built and installed a pair of large matching fitted floor to ceiling storage cupboards for files, documents, and reference materials. The right-hand cupboard has pocket doors, which conveniently slide into a compartment. A pocket door is a smart space-saving feature and makes it easy to access the interior. When expertly fitted the operation is smooth and quiet to maintain a peaceful environment. Painted in a gentle shade The exterior of the bespoke furniture is painted in Benjamin Moore Quiet Moments, a soft mix of blue, green and grey that enhances the room’s tranquil quality. Cabinet interiors are made from Xylocleaf Kaki FA44 Penelope, which provides a highly durable and pleasingly decorative textured tactile finish. The beautiful, hardwearing finishes enhance the functionality and elegance of the furniture. Timeless quality of natural oak The custom-made feature wall joinery includes contrasting open boxes constructed from natural warm oiled oak. The two low level cabinets are designed to house stationery and office equipment. The reeded panels are a stunning feature for this high-end shelving unit. This handcrafted reeding, inspired by Greek and Roman architectural detailing, adds style and character to the piece.
