The original kitchen & dining room was in an L-shaped room. Early on in the design process, we worked with our clients to design an extension that would square the room off and provide much more space for the open-plan layout. The new U-shape kitchen with an island works really well here, creating a sociable kitchen & dining area. To maximise the sense of space and create a more Scandinavian feel, we designed a contemporary handleless kitchen in white. The main kitchen is a smooth painted chalk white but the island is in partridge grey to provide some contrast. The result is a modern, fresh and elegant space, and it works so well in this house. The glass splashback and Carrara Venato quartz worktop complement the colour scheme and contribute to the airy feel by reflecting lots of light too.
