We worked with the owner of this Mercer Island home to completely transform his large, shady backyard and unproductive vegetable garden into a sunny productive space. The new extensive annual vegetable garden features deep raised beds, wide pathways, small production greenhouse, a tool shed, rain garden and patio for entertaining. The site will also includes native plantings, cut-flower garden and a small farm stand that the owner will stock with the extra bounty from his garden. Hilary Dahl

The stunning tree, Agonis flexuosa 'Jervis Bay Afterdark' (Peppermint Tree) has beautiful dark purple/black weeping foliage. Besides being gorgeous, this Australian native can also withstand the often strong winds, why I chose it for this coastal, windy, Sausalito, CA residence. A grouping of three were planted in a leveled area below the deck along with Euphorbia myrsinites, Yarrow and New Zealand Wind Grass. The modern wood fence obstructs views to utility equipment. It is important to understand the impact the outdoors area has on your home's value and that it can affect potential home buyers' decisions about buying your home. The assumption is - if the outside is trashy the inside could be questionable and trashy too. The outdoor area of a home is the ideal spot to create a little retreat from the world – a nook where a buyer can envision themselves spending time, relaxing having a coffee or reading a book. This means that the styling options for an outdoor area are wide open to the imagination. * Master the art of outdoor styling when selling (or decorating) your home with our Home Improvement Training online courses > https://homeimprovementtraining.com ** Outdoor styling furniture and accessories are available for rent from our Sydney Furniture Hire warehouse > https://sydneyfurniturehire.com/
