We brightened the room by painting the kitchen island Benjamin Moore's Nature's Essentials 1521, the walls Inner Balance 1522 and the trim white. The counter tops were replaced with a more neutral granite, and the old tile floor in the kitchen and breakfast room were replaced with a deep porcelain tile to ground the rooms.
