Modified Arts and Crafts Kitchen

Traditional Kitchen, Cleveland

This kitchen started with a story that I love because the design was completely representative of the client's personality and what feelings she wanted her newly decorated space to evoke. Upon initial design consults, one of the first things she presented to me when asked how she wanted the kitchen to look was a piece of pottery that one of her children had made for her. Simple and earthen feeling, it evoked a quality that was both homespun yet refined and captured the essence of what her new kitchen would eventually become. The evolution of the design, although based on one small item, transformed this space into a gorgeously functional "cook's kitchen" with two islands, a 48" Wolf range, a wine tasting area and a wonderfully generous eating area for the family of six. Accents such as beadboard on the end panels, the contrasting color combinations of the range hood top and the end bookend cabinets, the cup drawer pulls and the old schoolhouse pendants add an irresistible charm that makes this kitchen cozy yet dramatic.
