This medium sized, 2 storey passive solar home was constructed for an empty nester to grow old in. With this in mind the home boasts universal access items such as straight stair case leading up to the second floor, wider doorways, spacious wet areas as well as open plan living. The home was built with insulated double brickwork to all external walls and a suspended concrete slab. Quality fittings and fixtures are nominated throughout the home. The north facing glass to the living area was angled to maximise the winter performance and dark tiles laid to soak up the warmth from the winter sun whilst bamboo flooring was chosen to the remaining living for a soft, warm feel. In summer the owner will add shade sails to the courtyard to protect the paving against the radiant heat from the sun. The home also boasts a rain water harvesting system and water wise landscaping.
