This home office near York is a fine example of how Treske’s designers respect the unique architecture of a setting and the way in which their craftsmen are happy to help a client integrate favourite pieces of office furniture into a new scheme. In an oak-beamed room, a range of oak cupboards and bookshelves along a wall with two small windows incorporates a low shelf and rising panel continuous with fitted windowsills. A small alcove has an oak window sill too, as does the window above the Treske low bookcase. Everything is made in beautifully grained, hard-wearing oak and fitted by Treske craftsmen, who also restored the client’s favourite oak desk and recovered it in red leather. A breakfront style bookcase in oak was bespoke to house books of differing sizes and display objets d’art. Fluting to the columns, an arched niche, cornice moulding and base detail reflect the proportions and period of the room.
