I am currently studying a Diploma of Interior Design and Decoration at Mercer Institute. The name of the business I recently established, "Brave Wings", symbolizes my 'courage and freedom to chase my dreams'. Interior Design and Decoration has been a life passion and hobby of mine, and is what makes me feel truly connected and alive. It is a creative outlet to allow my abundance of creativity, ideas, visions and imagination to flow freely.. I have styled several houses of friends and family, and am continually trying out new ideas of my own and those I have learnt using various media sources. In addition to Interior Design and Decoration, I have also developed self taught skills in Fashion Design & Styling, Garden Landscaping, Floristry, Painting, and Sketching. I am so excited to now have the opportunity to learn from the best teachers at Mercer Institute and acquire as many tools and skills I can. With Hard work, enthusiasm, and willingness to continually learn, I aspire to become a future success in the Interior Design and Decoration Industry, and continue to develop my business, "Brave Wings". My Background Upon completion of high school, I went on to study a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Melbourne. Although I took away valuable skills and qualifications, in hindsight, I have always regretted not following my heart and creative gift. I became both complacent, disempowered and lost throughout my life, knowing I had personal aspirations and desires I had yet to fulfill . I believed at the time that my 'dreams' were no longer attainable, and that it was too late in life to execute major changes in my career and education. Twenty Two years later, and following a challenging battle with Breast Cancer, I have gained a new appreciation for life and more so, a clearer understanding of who I am, and what is important to me. I consider myself as being granted a second chance at life, and have this time , chosen to follow my heart and values, with the courage, inspiration and determination I gained through the experience. I hope that one day, when I become a qualified Interior designer/decorator, that I may inspire even one other person, to be true to themselves, and never give up on chasing their dreams, regardless of their age or what life has dealt us along the way. I hope others can find their "Brave Wings" as I have done.
