Garage Concepts

We decided to do a major Master Bathroom renovation. We wanted the walk-in shower to be as grout-free as possible. So we decided on solid Quartz walls and found a trowlable epoxy product (Everlast Epoxy) that is used in many public restrooms, shower areas, kitchen, etc. We explained it to our General Contractor who investigated it in detail and agreed to go with it for our project. The General Contractor contacted a company called Concrete Rules, one of their usual sub-contractors, to do the installation. When it came time for the installation, a company called Garage Concepts showed up instead, apparently sub-contracted by Concrete Rules. Garage Concepts stated that their expertise was in Epoxy Flooring; however they had never used or worked with this product before. The product was very well labeled with very detailed and specific instructions. There was an 800 help number and website mentioned. We tried to help out by providing Garage Concepts personnel with a printout off the website with detailed installation instructions, and pointing out the two online videos which described the product in detail and showed exactly step by step how to install and work with it. Garage Concepts REFUSED to follow any of the instructions, stating "they knew what they were doing and how to work with epoxy"; even though this product was NOT the usual paint-on epoxy floor product they were used to. The installation was supposed to be a 3 day procedure allowing for pre-sloping the floor and the proper cure times. They took 5 days to install, not properly pre-sloping the floor, not priming properly, not mixing the epoxy properly and adding other chemicals, not applying the cove properly, etc. The final results were horrible! Rough and uneven texture, sharp pieces, lumps in the cove area, uneven finish. We were also concerned that they may have damaged the Quartz walls in the process. Our General Contractor had to get another company (Martin Interiors, a certified installer) to come and grind off the product and reapply it properly. They were very professional, done in two days and this time the results were what we had expected, perfect! The finished product is great and much better than the ordinary epoxy floors that are "painted" on. I cannot recommend Garage Concepts, based on their unprofessional attitude toward following product instructions and their lack of respect to our property due to epoxy spatter on the Quartz walls, the surrounding floor and sink, and their not asking before washing out buckets in flower beds.
