About Us

Digsdesign + Alter Architects...recently merged forces. architectural designer and interiors architecture. Seems all my life I have been involved in the design and building world. 30+ years of creating and constructing homes, renovations and additions with the knowledge of knowing how a home is built as i design. I am drawn to early farm structures to the modernism and minimalism of today's designs. My passion is to not create a grand structure but to make a home truly loved, lived in and shared with those surrounding the keepers of the home while blending the connection between the interior and exterior encouraging life to be lived beyond the physical structure too. DIGS designed my weekend-for-now mountain dream home. I had known Jim for awhile and was familiar with several of his projects, including a similarly-styled home on Lake James. I have a strong design ethic, but Jim helped me think things through in different ways. There was some give and take, which made the end product much better. I have recommended DIGS to several of my clients, and would heartily recommend DIGS to anyone looking to build a home that is outside of the proverbial box. Life is too short to have a home that looks and works like everyone else's! DIGS creates boxes for living that are anything but inside that proverbial box.

DIGS designed and supervised the new construction of a lake home. Very detailed plans and excellent interaction with construction crew and contractors. DIGS also remodeled our existing 1920s cottage urban home. Improved lighting, windows, doors and flow of interior which had been added onto over the years. Now a coherent soothing space to live.
