Cathy Stathopoulos, CKD

Cathy began her education in design at Paier College of Art, Hamden, CT. While taking classes she interned with Dorothy Comstock Interior Design. When she graduated in 1986 she was taken on full time as a designer. Upon moving back to the North Shore of Massachusettts, she began her career in Kitchen Design. After 6 years, in 1993, she sat and passed the exam to become a Certified Kitchen Designer and at the same time won Honorable Mention for on the her designs in the National Kitchen and Bath Assoc. design contest. In 1998 Cathy was awarded the Grand Prize by Plain & Fancy custom Cabinetry for one of her designs in Newburyport, MA. Her designs have also been published and in 2003 made the cover of Woman's Day Kitchen & Bath Magazine. In 2000 Cathy sat for and passed the NCIDQ exam (National Council for Interior Design Qualification) and is now a Certified Interior Designer. In April 2009 Cathy and two of her projects were featured on "What's in Store?" a WBZ-TV program highlighting Gerrity Stone out of Woburn. In December 2009 one of Cathy's projects was published in Kitchen Trends magazine Vol.25 no.10. This Kitchen was also considered for the PRISM Awards by the Builders Assoc. of Greater Boston. Cathy has experience with "Universal Design" dealing with the physically challenged, ADA compliance (American Disabilities Act) and access and safety for aging clients. Cathy has also begun to study "Green Design" and "Sustainable Design" concerning herself with design and products that are safe for humans and our enviornment.
