Helen, Glen and the carpenters from Urban Matter did an amazing job bringing our 1920s Queenslander into a new era, whilst maintaining its heritage character and creating a great family space.
Undertaking our first major renovation was always going to be an extremely daunting task, and add to the mix an old Queenslander with plenty of character. We had a reasonable idea of what we wanted, however there was still uncertainty as to whether we were making the best decisions to maximise the functionality of the house for our future family plans, whilst keeping with the character of the home and being mindful of not over capitalising.
After meeting with Helen and Glen we were immediately comfortable. Helen’s eye for design detail and experience in transforming similar traditional Queenslanders coupled with Glen’s extensive building experience provided us with the support and confidence we were looking for to undertake our project. They were both so accommodating and provided us the opportunity to take a look through a recent project they had completed to see first hand the high end quality of their work and finishes. Having Helen’s input was invaluable. She knew our budget and the style of house and finishes we had in mind, which took a lot of pressure off us during the build.
We also couldn’t have asked for better carpenters on our build. They worked brilliantly together, they were courteous of our neighbours (so much so that we even had various neighbours mention this to us) and were always willing to answer our questions or give us an update on the build and what would be happening next. We weren’t “left in the dark” not knowing what was happening. They never took the easy option just to get something done quickly; they were always aiming for the highest quality finish with their work, and expected the same from all the different trades that entered our house to work on the build.
We absolutely recommend the Urban Matter team to assist with your next renovation project, no matter the size.
