In 2012 I commissioned David Haseler and Angela Rheinlander to design the hanging system for the National exhibition Fashionably Early at the Gallery of Australian Design (GAD). The exhibition was exploring innovative sustainable practice in fashion schools around Australia. The design brief had some tricky parameters: we could not attach anything to the walls or ceiling, materials had to be 100% recyclable and our budget was tight. Working with David and Angela was a pleasure, they are great communicators, experimenters and problem solvers, they took our thinking of what this could be to a whole new level. The final architectural solution was a free standing cardboard envelope, standardised for production in a box factory, it arrived flat packed and unfolded beautifully inside the gallery. Angela and David are known for their clever and simple detailing and this was no exception, everything came together simply and quickly. The cardboard envelope was more than a hanging system it created the experience of the exhibition.

Durant Building Design Management

We worked with Studio 203 as the builder for the Lilyfield house. Throughout the build they were extremely focused and thorough on all aspects of detailing of the project including drawings, modelling, budgeting and finished product. No aspect was forgotten about and it was a very rounded approach to the design and philosophy of architecture in todays modern environment. They were very hands on in their approach and it really shows in the end result. If you want a team that really understand's architecture and how it has the ability to really transform spaces and ways of life there is no better team. Their smaller team also helps as they are across everything and things are not lost/misinterpreted which is very valuable. We would love the opportunity to work with their team on another project!
