Bea Bellingham

I’m Bea, and I make things to make other people happy. That’s what I get up for in the mornings. I grew up in England, and moved with my husband around 8 years ago to sunny Australia. We’ve a dog/studio assistant/muse called Buddy. I work from a studio at my home in Petersham, Sydney, Australia. I didn’t go to art school, relying on the Frank Zappa quote If you want to get laid, go to college. If you want an education, go to the library (I also went to University, but that’s a story for another day) I’m the captain of the Sydney Etsy Team – Come meet me at one of our events :) Fancy pants artist statement Bea Bellingham is a Sydney based, English born illustrator and artist working in a variety of mediums. A self-taught artist, Bellingham draws inspiration from wide ranging of sources: her childhood in rural England and subsequent impressions of Australia, children’s picture books, pop-culture trends, wit and whimsy, and a love of typography. After years of working to define herself as an artist with a single style, Bellingham made the conscious choice to instead work on ‘projects’ free of medium or style constraints. Projects are both independent series and work together towards a common aim – to create works which are as fun to look at as they are to think about and secondly to create intellectually accessible and thought provoking works.
