Carol Lee Beckx Artist

love to explore colour and light with paint; to delve into the detail of nature with ink and watercolour; to discover the mystery of the human face in portraiture. I love to teach; to lead artists on a journey of self-discovery; to show them new techniques and to develop their full potential. After living in South Africa all my life, I immigrated to Australia in December 2010. I left the familiar; the known; the safe; and have had to adapt to everything new. It’s been an exhilarating challenge and I’ve loved every minute. I am now a full time artist and art teacher after years of combining painting with other responsibilities. I have settled in Brisbane where I paint and teach art. Recent paintings are inspired by the power of light on the landscape, and are a visual response to discovering new country and new secret places. My paintings are a response to my surroundings with the choice of subject based on the visual pull of an image. I’m interested in a subject where there is a strong sense of light and shade, and because strong abstract shapes exist in the image. My work is in private and corporate collections worldwide.
