As an old school furniture maker Peter Walker uses traditional mortice and tenon, housing and dovetail joints to build his pieces of functional, modern and timeless furniture; antiques of the future. Having completed a 5 year furniture making apprenticeship in the UK, taught by a 'master craftsman' Peter has over 25 years of experience in building bespoke fine furniture. Working in Australian and international timbers Peter can design an original, make changes to existing designs, or incorporate design features within the space to create that bespoke piece. Working from his studio workshop in Perth, Western Australia, each piece of furniture is handcrafted by Peter; therefore you are assured of receiving a personalised service from the initial consultation right through to delivery. As well as creating highly durable pieces, Peter is able to achieve looks that are not possible using machinery alone, such as intricate joint details and edges shaped with hand tools. It's uncommon in this day and age that these traditional skills are still practised, as the modern day “furniture maker” often limit themselves to what new technology and machines can do, rather than what can be created by using hand tools.
