Stella and Olive Design

My name is Alison and I am a maker living in Newcastle, New South Wales, and for those not in the know this is on the east coast of Australia about 2 hours north of Sydney. I have a creative tertiary background and like to think that I studied a four year degree in how to teach yourself new skills! I am always looking to learn a new skill or craft and have gone through a few (concreting, jewelery, refurbishing vintage furniture, cake decorating.......) and resin art has kept my interest for quite a while now. I have always loved drawing, creating and making and first started working with resin about 8 years ago when I was obsessed with Dinosaur Designs and loved the resin medium. A few years ago, my interest in resin painting was renewed when I saw an advertisement for a resin painting class and I was hooked from my first class and started making pieces for myself and friends and then attending local art and design markets. Custom orders and creating to others ideas and specifications enabled me to strengthen my skills and refine my style. Now, a lot of my work is via custom orders via Facebook, Instagram or Etsy and are often sent interstate but sometimes I get the please of meeting local clients. I also run resin art classes for people who are interested in learning a new skill and I really enjoy this new side of Stella and Olive Design. The classes cover the technical side of resin art as well as the design and colour theory aspect which I felt was missing a little from my first experience with resin. This enables people who don't consider themselves to be 'artistic' to be confident they can create a piece they can proudly display in their own home.
