Synergy PHR Ltd

A couple of years ago Darren fitted an Air source heat pump. It has been faultless. Not only that, he was one of the best contractors we have had. He was responsive, on quote, his workmanship was flawless (he even fixed something along the way without asking for any gratitude, we spotted it and thanked him). I could not fault him and would recommend his company. No, he has not asked for this review and he probably doesnt even remember us, I was referring him to a friend and realised I had not reviewed him. Least I could do after he did such a great job for us.

Well, I just know where to start with this one… it was the biggest mistake we ever made going with Synergy PHR. We paid a huge sum of nearly £125,000 and got conned in a bad way with work that was well below par. I would certainly avoid this company. The Director Darren will sell you the dream and then deliver work that isn’t even fit for a 3rd world country. We went for a German build and was told that Synergy were the best company to use. Unfortunately, it was anything but that and we were left with a vast amount of shoddy workmanship and worst of it all, this guy never ever took any responsibility. We had leaking baths, basins, showers and taps. They blamed the manufacturer for all the faults and refused to come out and rectify all the faults. We also had a major issue with our Air recovery system but Synergy refused to come out and rectify the issue. Instead they blamed the manufacturer again. Worst of it all, absolutely worst of it all – Synergy refused to commission the unit after they had installed it. That’s how much faith THEY have in their workmanship and understanding of an air recovery system. It is totally laughable that they wouldn’t even put their name to it and instead decided to blame the German house builder for not giving them a ventilation plan. That was absolutely not the case and even if it were, why would you install something and charge the earth when you know it is wrong, when you know it will not work properly and why would you not take responsibility if you knew you had done it wrong in the first place. In the end we had to pay another £4,500 to get the unit working, albeit because of the two outlets that were not used, it is still not 100% but nothing can be done about that now. That’s the problem with companies like Synergy who are the “Jack of all trades and master of none”. Zehnder told me that installers like Synergy go on a 2-day course and think they know it all and end up messing up a lot of installations. These were the main issues, but I could have gone on and on about all the other 100’s of things that didn’t go right. I would say 70% of what Synergy did was wrong and they didn’t come back to fix anything at all. They just walked away from all their responsibilities given that all these issues either happened when they were on site or at max 3 months from leaving the site. The only positive was the two electricians Sam and Ross who did a great job on the electrical side and worked long hours to get the project moving. I would avoid Synergy at all costs. They were mega mega expensive and we thought we would get amazing, faultless workmanship from them but how wrong were we. I would recommend researching other fit-out companies or call some of the German house builders – Huf Haus is a great one and I know they have a great Fit out company.
