I feel fortunate to have found Karl to complete carpentry work on my Surry Hills terrace, upgrading the balcony with new hardwood beams and decking and renewing the weather board cladding on the attic dormers. Karl has a lifetime's knowledge and experience but it's his conscientiousness and attention to detail that are the real stand-out qualities. He literally approaches his work as if it's for his own place. You really couldn't ask for more and I'm looking forward to engaging Karl again for future works.

Karl is not only a top quality carpenter/builder, he is a craftsman who takes care in his work and genuinely cares for his clients. We gave Karl some tricky jobs, including finishing four skylights that had not been completed properly and access was difficult. Karl worked his way around the issues and now our house looks awesome inside. Outside, we had two tricky cabinets to build. Half a dozen neighbours have told us that we now have the best looking bin tidy in the neighbourhood! Karl is highly recommended!

We had Karl to undertake some repairs on our house as well as build a whole new timber carport structure in front of the garage. Throughout the whole process, Karl was very personable, patient and always took the time to explain the what and why behind the works he was undertaking. These qualities are rare and very desirable during renovation works. The quality of works completed was very good, and I would certainly recommend using Karl again for anyone who requires the services that Advanced Craft Construction provides. Five stars without hesitation.

Karl is an excellent builder. His approach is completely professional and the quality of his work is of a high standard. The site was always kept clean and tidy and he communicated with us every step of the way during our renovation. I would not hesitate to recommend him for any building jobs.

Karl gave us great advice from the beginning. .Getting a DA in a heritage area for a deck & changing an existing window to a bi fold door seemed to take forever, he was extremely patient and the end result is great.He works with great respect to your home & leaves a tidy site at the end of the day. If you are looking for a master craftsman who will exceed all your expectations, then look no further! We found Karl purely by chance after failing to find somebody through our networks who was available in a tight timeframe. We needed to replace a rotting floor and after reading Karl’s excellent reviews on-line we decided to give him a call. He made an appointment to look at our floor the very next day and despite the fact we were late for the meeting and had left the keys to the house behind, he did not lose his patience — lucky for us! After finally examining the floor he quickly worked out the problems and that evening sent us a plan of action. Maybe we could have found somebody out there who was cheaper but we had a good gut feeling about him and we liked the fact that his quote was clearly itemised with material costs and labour costs for each step of the way. Everything was clearly explained and we felt confident that Karl knew exactly what he was doing and would stick to schedule. And so it was. Karl and his team worked tirelessly, excavating under the floor, building new bearers and piers and joists and then laying the most beautiful Tasmanian Oak floor on top. We couldn’t be happier with the end result. The other tradesmen he used for our job — the sparky, plumber and floor polisher — were all excellent and we have used all three for other projects. We also hired Karl to build a cupboard under the stairs complete with a small sound booth and he came up with a design that is both practical and looks great. Not only is Karl meticulous in his work, he is always punctual and cheerful and keeps you constantly updated on the progress of each project. It was a total pleasure dealing with Karl and I would trust him with any building/carpentry project as I am absolutely confident that he will always deliver.

I can’t speak highly enough of Karl and the quality of work he produces. Our project was a complete renovation and Karl finished it to an extremely high standard, to budget and well within the time frame given. Karl takes any issues personally and worked extremely hard to make sure that we were satisfied with the solutions proposed. He is an excellent communicator and we always felt very well-informed about the progress of our job. He takes his contractual commitments seriously and documents everything so we were always certain exactly what we were paying for. Initially we had thought of employing separate contractors and managing the project ourselves, but after hearing various nightmare stories we are so glad we didn’t do this. Karl is in fact an excellent project manager. When he used subcontractors, they were always very carefully chosen, professional and courteous. Additionally, Karl watches his subcontractors like a hawk to make sure the job is done to his high standards and that nothing is damaged. Karl himself is a very skilled carpenter and we had various smaller carpentry jobs that required creative solutions. He was able to complete all of these in an innovative and surprisingly quick manner. It’s testament to the quality Karl’s work that after five months of full-time demolition and construction, there were only two or three very minor issues that needed attending to and Karl fixed these up immediately. This is in stark contrast to many building stories I’ve heard, where homeowners have faced months of fiddly tasks to properly finish the job after the builders have left. Karl took protecting the completed areas of the house very seriously (for example, he never wore his shoes on the new floor) and left the house extremely clean. Finally, it may not be the most important thing in a builder but I can honestly say that Karl is a lovely person. It was always a pleasure to talk to him and despite my own ineptitude at handyman tasks, I never felt patronised by him (unlike many tradespeople I’ve dealt with in the past). He always took care to explain things in terms that I could understand. I have no hesitation in recommending Karl for any building job, big or small. He could well be the best builder in Sydney.

Karl made the job absolutely painless for us. He installed a new kitchenette and renovated a small apartment, coordinating various tradesmen so that the job was done well within the time frame. He is very conscientious and kept the site clean and tidy. His communication was excellent. He consulted us about every issue that came up to be sure he did things the way we wanted. We knew what was happening each day. He is very reliable, considerate, polite and professional.

Very good result and good reliable punctual service, Karl listened and joined the deck to the house just as i asked and gave us a well completed asset.

My project was to rebuild/replace the original stairs in my terraced house. I found Advanced Craft Construction through a google search. Karl was a real pleasure to work with, he did everything as he said he would, was very open to discussions about fixing up minor issues along the way, he went about his work carefully, was very communicative and generally very helpful and a really nice guy to boot. The main feedback though is around the quality of his work which was excellent, Karl did an amazing job and I couldn't be happier with the results. I would highly recommend Advanced Craft Construction to anyone thinking of doing home renovations.

We have used Advanced Craft Carpentry for two jobs now and couldn't be happier. The first was some joinery in our attic and bookshelves in our study - both made with care and on budget. The second was a larger project - a completely new bathroom, a renovated back balcony upgraded kitchen bench/sink and an inbuilt TV cabinet. The project was delivered within the predicted timeframe and budget, and nearly stress free. It looks fantastic! Karl is a good craftsman, project manager and a clear communicator. We wouldn't hesitate to use Advanced Craft Carpentry in our home again.
