About Us

Hello! You are no doubt here because you’d like to build something beautiful. Chris has been building in and about the Byron Shire for over 18 years now. Building is all about experience, and people. Chris King Constructions has built everything from rustic studios, to architectural homes and commercial properties. Throw in endless decks, renovations, extensions, sauna’s and Queenslanders. We love working with timber, old and new, but we will have a go at any customisation you can think of! Through a stringent screening process and a lot of help from the building gods, Chris has managed to build a team of awesome carpenters and, more importantly, really great people. We take pride in the quality of our work, and we do a whole lot of caring… about the job at hand, our environment, the state of our job site, each other, and you–our clients. We all enjoy what we do, where we live, and we like to have a bit of fun along the way. All materials and tradespeople are sourced through local channels wherever possible and we value these relationships highly.

If you are looking for an excellent builder then I would highly recommend Chris and his company. In 2020 Chris King Constructions built a second dwelling for me. Chris runs a professional operation and that helped to allay any fears I may have had around building. Right from the start he maintained excellent communication and any questions I had were dealt with quickly. His team were friendly, respectful and professional and that contributed to an easy relationship for me and a good quality build.

My duplex was destroyed by fire, so it was a difficult rebuild from the start. This was the first time I’ve been involved with a rebuild/renovation and was treated with patience and respect throughout the build by the whole team. No minor (sometimes major) tweaking of the plans proved too difficult, although some requests proved impossible, suitable agreed alternatives were offered. Chris is the “Buzz Lightyear” of the local building trade, going above and beyond expectations, he even returned to sort out a landscaping issue well after the build was completed. Don’t look any further for your builder, you’ll be really happy with Chris’ team!

Wonderful experience Chris King worked well with our architect Steve Drake to build our dream extension with a talented team of chippies led by Tim and all the relevant trades. Chris offered a sound waranty of all work and stuck with us to see it through inspection to the Occupation Certificate. I'd watched too much Grand Designs and anticipated stress and drama - Instead I was delighted with the dedicated team of thoughtful guys and a fine furniture trained woman too! They arrived on time, worked hard, and we enjoyed the whole process. Now I wake up in a light filled grand bedroom with a raked ceiling overlooking our rainforest, an open Balinese bathroom, and a wonderful deck that has opened the whole house up for entertainment. Thanks, highly recommended!

Chris and his team were so easygoing and made what I know can be a very stressful process so easy. We thoroughly enjoyed building our house from start to finish and were kept informed and involved in all aspects of the build that were required without overwhelming us with too many details. We have been living in our house for nearly 2 years now and we couldn't be happier.
