“My wife Jean and I were delighted with the finished product Allie and her team delivered for our place in the Northern Beaches. This was a reasonably large job, encompassing multiple bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, floors and a pool cabana conversion into a granny flat. Allie has an incredible eye for detail and design. Being able to align our fairly complicated design palate (coastal, Hamptons and country) with a series of finishes that have complimented each other perfectly and this was echoes by our family and friends on completion. Allie also strong relationships with wholesalers, which we would never have had access to as a retail buyer. We managed to consistently save 50% off retail prices for top quality furniture, which in itself would have saved us the equivalent of the design fee we paid for Allie's services. We were also able to avoid other costs like architects and draftsmen as a result of the software made available by Allie and her team, which was sufficient to design a major kitchen rebuild and various other structural adjustments to the house. Patience is key and whilst we thought this was a 6-12 month process, it took closer to two years. Having a patient designer who understands there are at times competing priorities was critical to getting the job finished e.g. my wife and I were both working full time with a young family and like everyone, regularly had conflicting views around the best material/design path forward. I am not sure every designer has that type of patience, so we were very thankfully on that front. We love our house and have benefitted from a handsome uplift in the value of our property as a result of Allies hard work. “Donna is, beyond words, the most incredibly talented and downright gifted interior designer around. We purchased a dark, dingy, sad and neglected beach house that we knew had potential. When it came to starting our renovation, we initially thought using an interior designer was extravagant and thought we could do it all ourselves. Easy peasy, right? After some thought though, we decided we didn't want to risk making similar mistakes we'd made with previous properties, both in terms of cost and a hotch-potch, uncohesive result. So I started googling and came across Donna Guyler Design, and was instantly drawn to Donna's style. The minute we met Donna we knew we'd found the right person to help us achieve what we were after. Straight away we felt at ease, and all our reservations were gone. Little did we know at that point that Donna would completely blow our expectations right out of the water! Donna gets it. Is it expensive or over-indulgent to use an interior designer? I'm raising this point because initially we thought it probably was over-indulgent, and thought (wrongly) that it would be expensive.But I'm here to tell you, it's absolutely not!!! The value Donna and her amazing team have given us is honestly beyond measure, both in terms of the finished result (sans costly mistakes) and the value Donna has added to our property. Donna is acutely mindful of your budget and will work within that, so there's no sudden surprises. Now that our renovation is complete we can honestly say we miss the process. Ok, maybe not the inevitable dust and disruption that comes with any major reno but we miss Donna's infectious, fun personality, her incredible ideas, her honesty, her integrity and thoroughness, her ability to co-ordinate every little detail including trades, and the way Donna takes the stress and pressure completely out of the process. I seriously think we need to find another project to keep Donna in our lives! Donna is without a doubt a consummate professional with extraordinary talent. On top of this she is also an absolutely beautiful person.
