Adapt Landscaping

I think three words to best describe Adapt after our experience is deceptive, dishonest & incompetent. We engaged Adapt to redo our backyard. Meant to take 4-5 weeks it turned into protracted 6 month defect riddled ordeal. During the quoting stage Brendan was quite animated pointing out problems with existing layout & supposed non-adherence to Aust. Standards. I think that’s when we got duped by a slick sales pitch. When we noticed similar mistakes being made we raised our concerns with Brendan who’s ultimate response was to pack up his tools & walk away leaving the inexperienced team to finish. Brendan advised multiple times control cuts would be placed in the concrete slab to stop cracking. No control cuts were ever put in. We think this was to make up time. Drainage pipes were installed sloping uphill they actually finished above ground which Adapt tried to hide by covering with rocks. Adapts’ fix was to bury pipes in the ground but only connect one pipe leaving other pipe disconnected from the stormwater drain making it useless. We again raised our concerns & told we’d have to pay extra because drains hadn’t been mentioned on the quote. Adapt had little attention to detail: •Wiring was buried in wet sand or left exposed instead of being covered with plastic conduit. •Grouting was wafer thin resulting in numerous holes & large amounts washed away within days. •Drain cover was installed without being glued in. After raising with Adapt multiple times we fixed it ourselves when our two year old tripped over it. •Around 1 in 10 pavers had to be re-laid after they were laid sloping the wrong way towards the house, laid without being cut or laid unevenly with excess lippage. Some pavers dislodged before the project finished. Concerned we asked if the paving was done properly. Adapt claimed it complied with Aust. Standards. When we asked them to show this, they couldn’t because it was not compliant. Adapt later dismissed our concerns by stating they weren’t really bound by the Aust. Standards or the NCC as they are “landscapers” Adapt breached Consumer Law & their own contract. Adapt failed to complete all items, demanded payment when payment wasn’t due, refused to fix defects after final payment & failed to provide an itemised bill. They tried to charge for variations that hadn’t been done. Fair Trading advised not to make final payment until defects had been fixed. Instead of fixing defects Adapt got their lawyers to threaten legal action. We paid & despite repeated promises to fix defects Adapt walked away. Only after lodging a complaint with Fair Trading Adapt finally fixed some defects & we received a large refund over the deceptive conduct. Adapt was personally recommended but that doesn’t count for anything. They were overpriced & poor quality. Don’t be fooled by glossy promo photos. If you’re after a quality finish choose a licensed landscaper. We do not recommend Adapt Landscaping as we think they’re deceptive, dishonest & incompetent.

Brendan and his team have created an amazing space. They were able to create new ideas i had not thought of and give me detailed explanations on why they needed to do things a specific way. They put in a custom built fence with a full Australian native garden that requires no watering. Cant speak highly enough about Adapt Lanscaping

Very unprofessional and we have been left with an unfinished job which the company is refusing to complete several months after it was started. I was informed that I could not speak directly to the trades doing the work as we had to go through Halina. She had never been to site and never resolved issues that were raised with her. Halina had also requested payment in full for completed works when they hadn’t even been completed. She informed my husband that I had been aggressive towards the workers & then denied she had said it & said he must have misunderstood. Ultimately she initiated pulling them from site and not finishing the work. This is after we have already paid over $13,000. We are left with an unfinished, poor quality job that they are refusing to complete and a damaged access road. I would definitely not recommend them.
