Curtain crisis
Comments (11)I recommend holland blinds aka roller blinds, and installed inside the window frame. You can get your best fit from spotlit or even masters etc as most windows internal measurement are accommodated with ready fit. You can afford to work within a 50mm tolerance ordinarily. I would consider holland blinds sufficient in a rental in bedrooms, or utility rooms including kitchen, bathrooms, laundry etc, however lounge or living areas may need something different. In these spaces I would consider Hollands and ready made track blinds that you can install to dress the window itself, the holland will provide practicality and the drapes, additional privacy if needed. Keep them in a neutral tone, the Hollands in a natural taupe or similar to your walls, and you will get away with a tidy fuss free result....See MoreWorst thing about Aussie homes?
Comments (121)You know, Alipetecampbell, I think a lot of good could be done by simply not allowing houses to be built unless they're designed by a qualified architect and signed off by a qualified engineer, and built to minimum standards that ensure proper passive climate control (insulation, glazing, orientation etc.) and social linkage issues - let's ban the food desert and the nappy valley. Developers have a vested interest in building cheap, and those rubbish houses sell because (a) there's not much else on the market and (b) superficially they look okay. You'd argue that what I'm proposing would raise housing costs, but let's stop making billionaires of developers, let's stop councils from charging silly money for planning fees (eminently doable if housing is professionally designed) and, as I have said above, use less land for more housing AND more greenspace too, and the cuts in cost these measures would create could go towards making all houses better....See MoreKitchen Colour Pallet Crisis

Comments (5)i'm sorry to say that i don't believe that there is a stress free renovation but with careful planning there could be a successful renovation and if there's no asbestos to remove demolition can be exhausting, dirty, good fun but, even when everything works perfectly, you can potentially be without a kitchen and laundry for several weeks or longer ... it's not especially difficult to sub contract a kitchen renovation there's just so much to organise and with the current health crisis i'm told that there're a big demand for home renovations and we can expect super long delays for any cabinetry or trades work ...eg you will need an electrician and plumber to disconnect and reconnect services several times and if one of them doesn't arrive when needed everything else has to wait.. but, anything you can do to save time and labour could make big savings and even if a kitchen company does all the work you will still have to choose all the appliances, taps, sink, tiles, counters, doors, styles, paint, lightfittings, floorcovering etc and make sure that everything is ready on site when needed and you could be living in a mess, cooking on a barbq and washing clothes elsewhere regardless of who does the demolition so why not ask the kitchen companies for an itemised lists of charges including costs for any appliances, taps and sink so you know the potential savings and their timetable...See MoreJK
