Hi Jayne, when you search for an upholsterer they'll guide you on fabric choice based on the wearability of fabrics - though I would avoid anything with an obvious nap such as velvet, micro suedes etc - in the meanwhile take a trip down to your local Lincraft/Spotlight store and go online for upholstery fabric suppliers in your local area - this is where you can save some money and get an idea of what's available to you. There are some brilliant textural fabrics that have a self stripe that makes any nap that they've got look much better when it comes to long term use. Personally, I'd be inclined rather than having the lounges re-upholstered - if they're in good condition - have fitted tailored covers made (much easier and less expensive to change and so much easier if someone spills something on your lounge and these can also be scotchguarded).
