The chairs are dominating the kitchen...... if you wish to keep them, my suggestion for the splash back, would be a Moroccan patterned tile in a similar colour to chair fabric. Also replace the pendants to a white pendant. The different wood colours with the white gloss kitchen just doesn’t work. Then use red accessories to blend everything together.

Maybe even remove one of the stools, to lessen their current overpowering presence. And that will give room to sit comfortably.

Dreamer’s idea of a Moroccan tile was what immediately came to my mind, and because the colouring is usually subtle, would look great. There are also some terrazzo tiles in red tones, varying from large chunks to fine flecks. Also have a look at patterned tiles that contains some red or a burgundy that has similar undertones to your stools. Love them, btw. It’s always a bit tricky as everyone’s screen reflects differently, but the yellow timber of the light fixture does appear to fight with the blackwood (?) of the stools. Staining might be an option, as they are a lovely shape. We’ve all been in your position. Take your time, get lots of samples and trust your instincts. It’ll work out

I think you you have done such a beautiful job reupholstering your stools but I feel they are detracting from your lovely kitchen, as you have light timber shades, I think a light timber stool would give your kitchen a beautiful look, and a soft coloured tile would just tie everything together, are you able to use your lovely stools elsewhere , but if you intend to keep them the previous suggestions are lovely.

What a lovely kitchen and I understand your attachment to the Parker stools, they are special, but as per Julie's photos they would be better covered in a soft neutral. It isn't difficult to recover with another fabric over the top of the peach fabric. All you need is some fabric a staple gun and a screw driver to remove the padded top so you can add new fabric. You can google how to do this

Or as something completly different how about staining the light timber pendant a similar colour to the timber of the stools

The poster Meredith B has said they just has “their treasured stools recovered”. That is why I have recommended colours for tiles to compliment that colour fabric. Meredith B, obviously wanted that coloured fabric on their stools.

We all have different thoughts on your lovely kitchen, with all the great comments it gives you food for thought to give you ideas that ultimately gives you the kitchen you love, I do love your splash back, it gives a lovely fresh feel to the cabinets, cupboards, pendants, it goes beautifully with timber, Your stools are lovely, I just think they are a little heavy for the area

Everything in the room needs a friend. Currently your stools are lonely. If they are to be the focal point (three would look better than four) they need company. The wood tones need to be echoed elsewhere- door knobs, lights, chopping boards/decor. And the red tones and MCM vibes also need to be partnered up. Some of the tiles suggested above would work. I’d print them on paper and stick them up to get a feel before purchasing. A vintage rug in red tones would also add to the room. Def look at staining the lights to match the stools. With a few tweaks you could have a space with personality that you love.

One thing that doesn't work at the moment is the 3 different timbers - flooring, stools and lights.

Restain the light pendants to match the stool Timbers. Remove the glass splashback and tile. This could be white, as long as you add some dark red accessories to bench to tie in the stools. If you go Moroccan go softly U only want an echo of the stools. You also want to be able to remove the stools and still love the kitchen.

Your Mid-Century Modern vision for the kitchen is more Hamptons, soft grey walls, white cabinets, grey tinged flooring. MCM would have white walls with natural timber flooring and timber features as per your Parker stools with the red seating.

Are the other rooms MCM so that you could reuse the Parker stools as a feature and choose another stool to suite your Hamptons style kitchen, which is lovely and as Julie suggested keeping the glass splash back which works beautifully, I would then consider replacing the pendant lights, cane/wicker comes to mind as per one of Julies pictures, and reusing the current ones with the stools in another part of the house. good luck

To me the light fittings and the glass splash back are the main problems. They are both fine and inoffensive but the first thing I would change to update kitchen. 

 I think the light fittings are mounted too high. I think the terrazzo look tiles would be fabulous.  Yes definitely not safe or too everyone's liking but not that hard to replace if you get sick of it in several years.
