Help ideas for Splashback in new kitchen, please.
Comments (4)We recently did a splash back in our new kitchen using 41 x 41 mm square stainless still tiles from a company in Western Australia called ALLOY. They look amazing and everyone comments on them. They make tiles out of lots of different metals and in larger (and smaller) sizes....See MoreOver-crowded kitchen and dining. Help please!
Comments (8)Looks as if the far corner of the triangle is the utility source. Water, gas?, power? These can be expensive to move. Not clear on climate at the location, Looks like it is somewhere warm :) two fridges one quite old so maybe a chest freezer would be more economical/useful. I recall a friend from Qld who put everything in the fridge :) Cupboards were mostly bare of food unless it was perfectly air and insect proof. The carved wooden pieces could perhaps be moved to another area? they are probably grease and dust traps in the kitchen as they don't seem to be functional storage. That would give you another shelf in the short term. Can't see the stove so it is a bit hard to see the wash, cook, fridge triangle. Agree that a considered rethink is the way to go...See MoreKitchen help please! - cabinet advice needed
Comments (37)Hi iggs85 as it is an older kitchen I would not spend a huge amount of money on a revamp. It is definitely possible to paint laminate but good preparation is vital to ensure the paint 'sticks'. However a quality painter is going to charge you about the same as your resurfacing quote. Using either a painter or a resurfacing company does let you choose any colour though. The biggest disadvantage of the current benchtop is the bullnose which is very dated. From your photo, the colour and pattern look OK but you could get a stone 'overlay' put on it. They square off the bullnose so it looks more contemporary. An acrylic feature panel on the return is another alternative to vinyl planks. It looks like glass, comes in a good range of colours and is relatively inexpensive compared to glass. See http://zenolite.com/range as an example. You can buy acrylic sheets from Bunnings. You could also use pressed metal panels as a feature eg. http://www.wunderlite.com.au/catalogue/details/1/79/pressed-metal-crystal?start=25 Add some new handles on doors and drawers too....See MoreKitchen design help Please
Comments (25)I keep coming back to this plan. If it was drawn up by a professional they need to give the money back. EG There looks to be about 50cm between the shelving in Bed2 so I hope the child using that room is small and stays small. The double front door is shown with the hinges in the middle giving two adjacent doors not a double opening. Most of the doors are jammed in on the plan and the doorknobs will go through the walls. The main bathroom layout wastes space with the shower being big standard when for minimum cost, it could be 1200 and way nicer to use. The roof line is a mess. Apart from the issues others have raised. If the Poster didn’t have pics in their lookbook I’d think this was a homework question....See MoreHU-519487616
