Where the new kitchen should be???
Hi everyone.I need help with the floor plan. Current kitchen position is ridiculous and the whole kitchen is not practical at all. The big.room behind the kitchen doesn't have to be that big so I'm thinking of cutting half of it and creating space for living area and build new kitchen in front of the main bedroom and use WIR as kitchen pantry.
I'm open to any ideas.

What colour should I paint my new home?
Comments (15)Hi Sue, I think the wall colour (white looks like an white/off white) is lovely. It’s neutral and light, and will be the best back drop for any soft furnishings. I would suggest maybe updating some of your furniture. Your sofas look in good condition, so re-upholstering to change the colour may be a expensive option. in a bid to save some money, perhaps updating your rug to a lighter/more neutral pattern/colour (look at armadillo rugs) is a better option. Also updating your dining setting (perhaps something with chair upholstery to compliment the sofa, and even a large light coloured marble top) to be more contemporary and in keeping with your lounge suite would be the way to go. My clients often find it difficult to part with certain pieces that hold sentimental value, but often a new home requires a furniture update. In summary, I’m not convinced changing wall colour will be able to link all your furniture together. Stick with one piece that works well (ie. the sofa) and work towards updating the rest. Comments (64)Hi BC, I thought to throw a few more ideas at you before getting trades in as OK suggested, you might find something in all suggestions that appeal to. I personally don't think it a good idea to have a combined laundry kitchen in a house, it's something that you relate to apartment living, that's why I have previously suggested that you might consider opening the laundry from the bathroom, which then gives you another wall in the kitchen space. The kitchen is small and I was going to suggest the you have a 900 glass cook top that can be used for extra bench top. This new floor plan keeps the laundry where it is with staked washer and dryer and sink which can be used for cleaning large pots. I have drawn a galley kitchen with the cook top/oven on one side with the fridge sink and DW on the other, for prep and cleaning up. I have also added a sideboard.bar/desk facing into the living room, these cupboards backing up to the kitchen cook top on the other side could be used for the load bearing wall. Where I have marked the wall oven would be bench top as you have now mentioned not wanting that, the microwave can be mounted in the wall cupboard next to the cooktop where the wall oven was marked. Comments (8)I dont have exact measurements except for the kitchen it's around 3940mm long x 4870mm wide. The WIP and Laundry are behind the kitchen and that is the same length at 4870mm x 1510mm. The door in the WIP/Laundry is to the garage. The oven is either under the cooktop across across from the sink of could be a wall oven where the fridge is or on another wall. I'm trying to figure out layout of everything still kind of torn on whether to have an L-shaped or Broken L-shaped kitchen....See Moredreamer

3 months agoIt would be better to keep plumbing in the same space, as to install a kitchen with access to plumbing and electrics is expensive on a pre-existing concrete slab. My suggestion is to make the dining into your third minor bedroom. After investigating regarding the converted garage, and all is okay, then raise the floor and make this area into your pantry storage and dining area. If the front entry wall is not loading bearing, then remove. Kitchen island bench utilising the current plumbing. Also the current left kitchen wall may be load bearing as well. So keep the wall as much as you need for load, and remove the remainder. Maybe installing a pillar at the end of the island. If your budget is good, then remove the wall completely.
