Keen for advice on size and placement of an artwork in this blank wall space above the staircase in our split level home. Any design considerations? See photos for various angles of the space. Thanks!
The main thing we’re unsure of is should the print go below the balustrade or be in line or above? And should it align to the bulkhead or be higher or lower?
Agree with Kate. The artwork needs to be a rectangle piece hung vertically. Don’t know the dimensions of the wall, so can’t offer size. I have drawn to the scale I think it should be. Will give instant colour to both levels.
I have a large 1200mm x 1200mm square painting in my stairwell. It can be seen from lower floor and the landing. Your space will look spectacular with a vertical large artwork.
The dimensions are 2m from bulkhead to edge of wall, and from ceiling to floor of top landing it’s 2.7m. If you went lower to the bottom staircase banister it’s about 3m to ceiling. (The bulkhead is 480).
Appreciate the advice and any further tips given these dimensions
Considering what has already been suggested to you, consider the option of making a narrow section of wood/batten trim on the wall and attaching a piece of art to it. This will “collect” your space, “tie” the decor to the wall and add conceptuality.
The height of the wooden trim is the entire height of the flight of stairs.
